Below you will find a selection of comments from people who have stayed in the cottage.
"We've just returned home from our holiday in Tamh which finished yesterday. What a magical place! The whole family fell in love with Harris, what an enchanting island! Tamh exceeded all our expectations. It was cosy, comfortable and well appointed. It welcomed us every evening after our long walks of discovery. The house was immaculately clean and well prepared. Tamh is well named for we had a wonderful rest with comfortable beds and a sofa with the best view we've ever encountered. We had such good weather that the jigsaw puzzle was not completed! We will recommend Harris and Tamh to friends and family, and we will hopefully return before too long."
The accommodation was extremely comfortable and well-equipped, and the location absolutely superb - both in itself and also as a base for exploring the whole of Harris. I will most certainly recommend Tamh to anyone interested in self-catering on Harris in the future and hope that maybe we will be able to return some day.
"Excellent location, accommodation and facilities and all comforts catered for."
"A lovely house in a peaceful setting. Very well equipped and homely."
"The views are lovely and watching the wildlife beats watching TV any day. Will return"
"Golden eagle and otters plus stunning views observed from the doorstep"
" This email is only to say thank you for a great time in Tamh self catering cottage. After arriving we found a very nice house, equipped with almost everything we could imagine, a welcome basket in the kitchen, and a lot of small details like books, CDs, DVDs, pictures, candles, flowers, flasks, etc. We found excellent technical equipments in the kitchen, in the living and in the utility room as well. We found folders with manuals as well as great information material concerning the cottage and the surroundings. To summarise it: Everything was exactly in the same manner as described on the internet site respectively in your emails!
Kind regards, The Esders from Germany"
"Tamh was one of the best "cottages" we have stayed in in over a dozen visits to the West Highlands and the islands. It is warm, spacious and comfortable with all the facilities you need for a few weeks in the Hebrides. It has a wonderful outlook over the loch, with access to attractive coastal walks from the front door. Tamh is well placed, close to Tarbert and only 15 to 30 minutes from the beaches in the West and the roads to Hushinish in one direction and Scalpay in the other. It is a perfect base for a holiday on Harris."
"We have just arrived home from Tamh Cottage, via a short stay in North Uist. I wanted to write to say "thank you" for our holiday, which we greatly enjoyed. Tamh Cottage proved delightful, and after a couple of previous holidays in Harris where the disabled facilities for my wife were somewhat less than satisfactory, it met out needs ideally. You may care to have a note of our experiences so that you can pass them on to advise the next wheelchair-use who enquires. Firstly we would not hesitate to re-book Tamh Cottage next time we return to Harris. We took a portable "toilet frame" with us. This is a lightweight aluminium device that fits round the front of the toilet to provide hand-rails for support when transferring from the wheelchair. This worked well. It was used in the en-suite bathroom, but perhaps would have been better in the larger bathroom so that there was space to close the door behind the wheelchair We also took a plastic "bath board" with us. This is a seat that fits across the bath enabling the user to sit and use the shower. This too worked well, although my wife needs a hand to lift her legs over the rim of the bath. Other disabled people perhaps may not need such help. We used the large double bedroom for ourselves because there was enough space for the wheelchair. This may have been less easy in either of the other bedrooms without pushing the beds together against a wall. We didn't check this possibility out. The concrete ramp up to the back door worked well for us. However a wheelchair-user might not be able to manage without a little help. This is because there is a 3-4 inch step at the bottom between the concrete ramp and the tarmac. I know that there is a very short ramp at the front of the concrete (about 6 inches) but this is a bit too steep for my wife to manage unassisted without either her footplates or stabilisers "grounding". All these things were no problem for us, and certainly in every other respect Tamh Cottage was an excellent choice for a wheelchair-user. We would recommend it thoroughly. "
